“ Going through Salinas, I always stop here. I first learned about it in the 80s when I was working there for a couple of days and asked the locals where to eat. They specialize in seafood and carnitas. Super old school, the menu is on the wall with photos, you can order items by menu number. At mid-day the parking lot is about half commercial vehicles as the blue-collar artisans come here regularly because they know good food. Also saw a high-end Mercedes, because hey - everyone has to eat, and the owner clearly knew quality. Shrimp cocktail, grilled prawns, broiled whole fish, steak burrito, carnitas taco, cold beer: you can feast here. My dish of "tres animales" could've been called a bourride in a French bistro and sold for double the price, Fast, cheerful, quality food with no frills. Doesn't hurt to know a little Spanish, or be courteous if you don't. Check it out. ”
